pledge drive!

In trying to make money for WMBR (we're non-profit, community run radio) I offered up some tickets to a mercury rev concert. I'm pretty sure nobody purchased them. I probably should have bought them for myself. Oh well.

Link: BAM!

  13. ted leo and the pharmacists - walking to do
  14. big d and the kids table - steady riot
I've been playing a lot of big d and the kids table lately because they're such a great local ska group. I also love that when I'm listening to "shining on" i recognize the local landmarks they mention, like blanchards' liquor store.

I also recently saw the decemberists live for the second time, and they are still my favorite live show. colin meloy is just a great performer and has great stories. As an added bonus, he got the crowd chanting "yes we did!" and had a obama cardboard cutout crowd surf during the show. It was great. The opener was also great, and I'll be playing some of their music next show.

server down, server down!!!

Oh no! Not only is the Red Line down tonight, but the streaming/archive server is! HURRRR.

Here's tonight's playlist.

  1. dntel/postal service - (this is) the dream of evan and chan
  2. ted leo and the pharmacists - counting down the hours
  3. beulah - score from augusta
  4. neutral milk hotel - holland, 1945

  7. the kooks - naive
  8. stereophonics - dakota
  9. rilo kiley- portions for foxes

  12. the olivia tremor control - NYC 25
  13. tarkio - weight of the world
  14. the cars - just what I needed
  15. rilo kiley - my slumbering heart
Interesting notable points: Beulah, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Olivia Tremor Control are all members of the elephant six label, which is home to many other awesome artists, most notably of montreal and the apples in stereo.

Also of note, Tarkio was Colin Meloy's (of the Decemberists) earlier band. I've heard he even had something before that.

Finally, I've gotta do a shout out to Dale for requesting the new Ratatat song. Their latest album is (finally) growing on me. I think it has taken so long due to my emotional attachment to their first self-titled record.

Thanks for tuning in! Or at least trying to....
